Common Planning Schedules:
Common planning time for subject areas and interdisciplinary teams has increasingly been considered as a critical part of school improvement. Each teacher is expected to abide by the following weekly schedule regarding planning. All teachers are expected to arrive in the PLC room 5 minutes after your planning period starts. Please be prepared and ready to learn and grow for students.
- School Design Team meetings TBD
- All PLCs will be held every Thursday during planning periods
- Hallway Huddles are short team meetings during the school day (sometimes 10 minutes prior to the first bell or 10 minutes after the last bell). In these huddles, teachers have a chance to connect with team members, reconnect with our school’s core values and intentions, and take care of the smaller “business items” that could otherwise take away from team planning and/or data discussions. Every staff member receives an agenda for the week with suggestions for a basic value to review, applicable quotes, and more!
Huddles will help teams to ensure an efficient school day with fewer surprises. Huddles provide an opportunity to anticipate departmental needs and prepare for changes in logistics so the day runs more smoothly. Over time, they will serve as a platform for additional practice improvement and role expansion. Robust, routine huddles contribute to an interdependent team culture, improved relationships and actualization of our vision. A huddle can be called by any member on a team, but mostly will be scheduled by department leads. Please expect at least one huddle per week.
- The agenda should be prepared by a designated team member.
- Each teacher must arrive at the PLC prepared (ex: if the team decides to analyze data, each teacher should arrive with data already organized).
- Each teacher will be assigned a role in PLCs: Timekeeper, Master Scribe, & Facilitator.
- Meeting minutes will be provided to content instructional leader before end of business by uploading them to the appropriate Google Drive folder.
