INTRODUCTION
North Edgecombe High School is committed to pushing our students to uncover purpose and realize their greatest ambitions. Our staff not only teach our students, they learn alongside one another. With hard work, perseverance, and strong partnerships with our students, their families, and their community, we believe we can dramatically increase their access to opportunity in school and in life.
Our staff has a deep commitment to continuous improvement. With a “whatever it takes” mindset and an “no box” approach, we will provide educational equity to all NEHS students.
This guide defines the policies and procedures to be used at NEHS during this academic year. The content of this guide is neither absolute nor complete. This is a living document and you are invited to offer suggestions so that we may continue to increase our collective impact in the lives of young people.
Learning Questions for this Year
How do we ensure our scholars are on the path to having the knowledge, skills, and agency needed to prevent, address, and solve the kinds of societal problems presented by challenges like COVID-19—not just in the future, but quite literally today?
How might we cultivate the kinds of relationships that hold students emotionally through the kind of massive turmoil we’ve been through and mitigate the effects of trauma?
How can we ensure that continuity of learning does not depend on students or staff being physically present?
